What is a Network Video Recorder?
A Network Video Recorder (sometimes known as an NVR) is a digital recording system that is used to store and manage video footage from security cameras. Unlike traditional DVRs, NVRs do not require local storage as they can store footage digitally on a network. This makes them highly flexible and scalable, allowing the user to add more cameras as needed. NVRs are particularly useful for businesses and organisations that require high-resolution video as well as remote access to their surveillance system. They often come with advanced features such as motion detection, remote viewing, and cloud storage options.
What is a Digital Video Recorder?
A Digital Video Recorder (DVR) is a device used to record video in a digital format, typically from analog cameras. DVRs convert analog signals into digital data, which can then be stored on a hard drive or other forms of storage. This allows for easy playback, searching, and archiving of recorded footage. DVRs are commonly used in home and smaller scale business security systems due to their relative simplicity, cost-effectiveness and how easy they are to use.
